The Background Presently, it is compulsory for all students within the Malaysian education system to undergo 6 years of primary education and 5 more years of secondary education – which is usually provided for free by the government.

At the end of their secondary education, students sit for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), a public common examination which determines whether students will be able to pursue higher education at their desired institutions, based on their academic grades.

School leavers with SPM qualifications can opt to obtain a pre-university qualification (such as the sixth form, matriculation programs, and GCE 'A' levels) or study for a certificate or diploma at higher educational institutions.

The time needed to complete a pre-university program depends on the type of program - students usually take a year to complete a matriculation program or STAM and one-and-a-half to two years for STPM and A-levels.

Since 2011, PTABOS has helped students with their UPSR, PT3, and SPM journey, taking students of all ages, Grades, Standards, and Forms... through to completing their education at the SPM level. It has become an increasing trend for students to pursue their studies overseas. Many parents we’ve interviewed preferred if their children did their matriculation programs and Bachelor’s degree out of the country instead of local colleges and universities after obtaining their SPM.

They opine that the longer students study abroad, the more significant the academic, cultural, and personal development benefits are. In response to this demand, PTABOS provides education services for students of a higher education level:

• Preparation for post-SPM College/university application

• Consultation and advice on courses and college/university guidelines
